Headless Chicken Cooked for Ronen Sen

“There are no facts, only interpretations”

- Nietzsche
At times it is necessary to comment the deeds and actions of higher official representing Indian sub-continent as High Commissioners and Ambassadors at other countries; they are not just an individual to pass on unqualified comments and remarks, they represent the soul of our country India.

The controversy is Indian Ambassador to USA, Mr. Ronen Sen’s thoughtless comment [to Rediffnews as ''It has been approved here (in Washington DC) by the President and there (in New Delhi) it has been approved by the Indian Cabinet. So why do we have all this running around like headless chickens?''] on the debate over opposition parties on the nuclear pact signed between Mr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India and Mr. George Bush, President of United States of America.

Diplomats must restrict their words well within the limits because every word out of their mouth is the word of the nation; image of the nation. It is not important who he mentioned using the American metaphor, whether the “MPs of the country” or the “media” metaphor; it is insult to the country. A person who has been Secretary to the Atomic Energy Commission of India and has been in the diplomatic team at Moscow, San Francisco and in Dhaka and served as Ambassadors to Mexico, Russian Federation, Germany and as High Commissioner to United Kingdom is no ordinary person. But why should he talk the way he did to the journalists from Rediffnews. Shouldn’t he keep up his dignity?

Let it be so that the chief of the two countries has signed the agreement, doesn’t the citizens have the rights to know the content and debate over it? Why does he observe the media as “running around like headless chickens” is it because he is in USA and he needs to face government everyday? Doesn’t he have the nerve to represent and express the soul of India rather than expressing his views?

India should develop its own mechanism to build its own policies and it should never give up to any external authority or surrender to external force. Like the universe sustains by the gravity of every object present in the universe, a nation’s global existence essentially need its policies and governance which should not be interrupted by external agencies. If an object looses its own gravity in the universe it is lost to the closest object that has more gravity than the other closer objects. Indian policy should be strong; Indian economy should be strong; India should develop the economy to trade with any country without fear of unilateral economic sanctions of other developed countries.

(While reading on this topic at NDTV website, there were a few comments like most of India’s business is with USA and so there is nothing wrong is accepting the terms imposed by USA. Spineless people!)

We will excuse Mr. Sen and call him back to India and ask him to live with us, maybe he will realize his mistake of being Mr. Bush’s Ambassador to India. Like an American is an American wherever he is, an Indian also should learn to be an Indian irrespective where he is placed. Mr. Ronen Sen, learn this quality from the Americans when you come back to India.

Welcome back to India, Mr. Ronen Sen!
